ABOUT US
I’m so glad you’re here!
Hi, friends. I’m Alyssa, the face behind this page –
A mother to three beautiful little girls, a used to be work-from-home freelance social media marketer, and now owner of a small homestead in the beautiful land of Arkansas and founder of The Cardinal’s Nest.
With a degree in journalism, I left my office job at a christian nonprofit in 2018, a year after my first was born, and began freelancing full-time for a marketing agency in Nashville, which is where I worked up until 2022. Since leaving there, I have worked at several other agencies, as well as with multiple individual clients from numerous industries. In 2024, with our third baby on the way, I took a step back and for the first time in my life became a full time stay at home mom.
The same year I pursued freelancing, my husband, who was a Speech Language Pathologist at an elementary, also quit his job and became a full-time Children's Pastor. Fast forward 6 years, and in the fall of 2023, our family took a step back from full-time church ministry and he stepped down from his pastoral duties and is now working in a different field.
With a passion for writing and a newfound passion for all things motherhood, I started this blog shortly after my oldest was born. It was a way to share snapshots of my day and slivers of my heart.
Now, several years later, a few job changes along the way, a couple more babies, and a lot more animals, we are busy building up our little homestead in the country that God has blessed us with to share with others for the years to come.
When we're not working or homeschooling, you can find us catching up on our favorite TV shows, busy renovating our 1960s farmhouse, enjoying the country views, and probably gardening or baking with a few little girls alongside us.
The days aren't always easy, rarely glamorous, and the nights are usually long. This space is just a way for me to share our real-life experiences, and remember those moments that we never want to forget; the struggles, the victories, and all the lessons learned in between, along with a few of my favorite things, such as recipes, activities/crafts, and more.
